On April 18, 2018 the SF Brewers Guild had a special treat for their monthly Meet the Brewers night: a preview of the yet to be opened San Francisco Brewing Co brewpub in historic Ghirardelli Square. The new brewpub contains a full bar, large patio area, restaurant, and a 10 barrel brewhouse brewery and the grand opening is May 9, 2018 at 4:30pm.

The interior is spacious and modern yet comfortable. It has a large dining area with the bar situated in the center of the space, all of which is surrounded by several large televisions. Near the the kitchen, before you enter the hallway to the brewery, is something quite unique to breweries and brewpub, a WallTender. The WallTender is a self-serve, pay as you go draft system. First you get a card, then you can serve yourself as little as 1 ounce or a full pour of beer. When you close your tab, you’ll get a list of all the beers you tried and how much of each you poured.

Between the kitchen and WallTender is a hallway that leads to the brewery. The brewery is sectioned off with a beautifully tiled floor but there is also space in the same room that will be presumably by open to the public allowing you to enjoy a tasty beer while admiring the brewing equipment.

Walking out of the brewery to the opposite side of the facility you will find a small area dedicated to merchandise, which I imagine will regularly get picked clean by tourists and locals alike.

When you enter (and leave) SF Brewing Co. it’ll be hard to miss their massive beer garden patio. All the tables in front of the brewpub are theirs you you’ll be able to enjoy a beer and a bite outside on both sunny and not so sunny San Francisco days. For the cooler days and evenings they will have outdoor heaters.

This looks like it’s going to be wonderful new addition to the San Francisco craft beer scene and just a great place to hang out in the neighborhood for both locals and tourists.
